Karnataka Public Service Commission Examination Process

The examination is a three stage process:

Stage I. Preliminary Examination (Objective Type) for the Selection of candidates to the main examination; and

Stage II. Main Examination (Written Examination) for selection of candidates to the personality test.

Stage III. Personality test: For final selection of candidates to various posts/ cadres.

A detail of some of the examinations are given below
  • Gazetted Probationers Examination (Group `A' & `B')
Eligibility: Academic: Graduation
Age : 21-30 years. relaxable for SC/ST/BT/BC candidates.
  • Assistant Conservator of Forests Examination (Group `B')
Qualifications: Degree in Natural Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Geology, Agriculture, Mechanical/Chemical Engineering.

Age: 19-30 years. Relaxable for SC/ST/BC/BT candidates.

Subjects for Examination

Compulsory
  1. General English
  2. General Knowledge
  3. Mathematics (School Level).
Optional

Any two of the twelve subjects:
  1. Botany
  2. Zoology
  3. Mathematics
  4. Chemistry
  5. Physics
  6. Geology
  7. Mechanical Engineering
  8. Civil Engineering
  9. Chemical Engineering
  10. Statistics
  11. Economics
  12. Agriculture.
Written examination is followed by Personality Test.
  • Ministerial Staff Competitive Examination (Group `C')
Eligibility: Academic: Degree.
Age: 18-35 years. Relaxable for SC/ST/BT/BC candidates.

Plan of Examination:
  1. General English or General Kannada
  2. General Knowledge.
  • Assistant Executive Engineers Examination (Group `A')

    Eligibility: Academic: Degree in Civil/Mechanical Engineering.

    Age: Upto 35 years. Relaxable for SC/ST upto 40 years; BC upto 38 years.

    Plan of Examination:

    Compulsory
    General English
    General Knowledge.

  • Clerk Grade Examination (Group `C')
Eligibility: SSLC.

Age: 18-35 years. Relaxable for certain specified categories.

Plan of Examination:
General English or General Kannada
General Knowledge.
